ILM Online -Level 2 Team Leading Certificate – with E-Coach



Moving into a supervisory role will bring with it new challenges and expectations. Your primary role as a supervisor it to use strategies to ensure that your team is able to meet targets and objective, it can seem like a daunting prospect. In some circumstances this task can be further complicated – you used to be part of the team, and now you are in charge of the team, new role, new dynamics. A career in management will require the development of new skills, – delegation, planning and allocating work, motivating staff, translating team objectives to staff, monitoring work and performance and the list continues.


The ILM Level 2 Team Leading Certificate qualification provides the opportunity to explore and develop the essential skills required for team-leading effectively.

Course Aims

This qualification is ideal for those who have management responsibilities but no formal training, or those aspiring or moving into a management role. You will gain essential skills in key areas including leading people through organisational change, budget cuts or other pressures. The qualifications are made up of a wide range of units covering core management skills – such as understanding how to organise and delegate – plus skills in communication, team leadership, change, innovation and managing people and relationships.

Course Structure

The ILM Level 2 in Team Leading Certificates requires that you complete 15 credits from the selection of units.   The units that are included in this qualification is as follows:
Developing Yourself as a Team Leader – This unit looks at the skills and competency for an effective team leading and action planning for your professional development.

Improving Performance of the Work Team – You will explore performance management and how to set goals and improve performance within your team as part of a process of continuous improvement.

Planning and Monitoring Work – This unit looks at skills for successful organisation as a team leader and how you will plan the work of your team.  This unit looks at delegation, how to review and monitor target set for team members and how and when to use delegation.

Understanding Change in the Workplace – In this unit you will explore the importance of change in the workplace and how change can impact on staff and organisational performance.

Developing the Work Team – You will explore your role as a team leader, in particular how you develop your team as a whole and individuals within your team.

Leading Your Work Team – This unit looks at managing your team and essential skills like being able to motivate your team, set goals and to performance management.

Managing Yourself – This unit is about self-management, and is based on the principle that you need to be effective in managing yourself as well as others.  This unit focusses on time management principles and dealing with stressful situations.

Diversity in the Workplace – This unit looks at diversity and equality in the workplace its challenges and benefits to your team.


As part of your qualification, you will be required to complete an assessment in relation to all of the units on your programme. ILM’s approach to assessment is to ensure that it enables you to apply and demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and awareness to real-life workplace challenges. In order to obtain this prestigious and highly recognised qualification, you will need to complete an assessment for each unit, which is usually 1 assessment per unit. Assessments can be taken in a variety of formats, from presentations to written reports.

As part of this course, you will be provided with the essential requirements for success! You will be allocated an experienced and expert Leadership E-coach who will provide support and guidance throughout your course.  They will assist you with the completion of your assessments, providing feedback and support.
